My introduction to TMGB came from Weird Al Yankovic.  In 1988, he showed the video for Don't Let's Start on AL-TV.  I was bewildered and amused.  A few years later, everyone and their brother purchased the Flood album and blasted the song Particle Man over and over again.  I hated TMBG.  Once that died down and the populace went back to their Whitesnake and their Slaughter and their Dokken (remember Dokken?) I actually listened to Flood.  I found that as long as I skipped over Particle Man, I was okay.  In fact, several of the songs on that album are quite good.  On a whim, I bought Lincoln.  There ain't a bad song on Lincoln, (except You Will Miss Me, and even it has a catchy kind of appeal) and I was hooked.
I've grown to truly love TMBG in the last decade. There are times when I'm listening to them and I forget all about Carter USM and TMBG becomes my favourite band. Apart from a handful of singles, I've got everything they've released and 14 CDs full of live/unreleased stuff I've downloaded. Lincoln remains my favourite album, although John Henry and Mink Car both can give it a run for its proverbial money.

They Might Be Giants
  1987

A good debut full of dadaistic nonsense and fun catchy numbers. Too little substance to be really and truly fantastic but a handful of songs are quite awesome.
Best song: She's An Angel     Worst song: Boat of Car
Lincoln
  1988
Amazing album with nary a bad song. This time around, the songs are (sometimes) actually about stuff. This is one of my favourite albums of all time.
Best song: Kiss Me, Son of God     Worst song: Santa's Beard
Flood
  1990
This album is catchy but way overrated. Though some of it is quite awesome, easily 1/3 of it is barely listenable. Also, Partical Man and the cover of Istanbul were overplayed to death.
Best song: Hearing Aid     Worst song: Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love
Apollo 18
  1992
Much improved over Flood with a unifying sound rather than a collection of odd songs. There really isn't a bad song here but there are a few mediocre ones.
Best song: I Palindrome I     Worst song: Space Suit
John Henry
  1994
Nearly perfect. The Johns get a full band behind them and their sound is full and polished. Every song is at least "good" whereas most of them are "goddamn awesome".
Best song: Dirt Bike     Worst song: Window
Factory Showroom
  1996
This is a sad and short album with only a few awesome songs. It's grown on me quite a bit since I first got it but I remain laregely unimpressed.
Best song: Till My Head Falls Off     Worst song: Exquisite Dead Guy
Severe Tire Damage
  1998
This live album suffers from poor sound quality, which is odd because bootlegs of these same shows sound great! The few new songs are good and the Planet of the Apes ad lib songs are decent.
Best song: About Me     Worst song: Everything except Dr. Worm
  Long Tall Weekend
  2000
This internet-only album is mostly incredible. I absolutely love this album. There are a handful of clunkers but the sound is branching out in new directions and it's all good.
Best song: Certain People I Could Name    Worst song: Rat Patrol
Mink Car
  2001
At first I didn't like this album on account of most of it's swiped from LTW or was available on the 'net for years. However, having these songs in a polished form and in one place is rad.
Best song: Wicked Little Critta     Worst song: Mr. Xcitement
No!
  2002
An album aimed at children. My daughter's not old enough to really enjoy this yet but it sounds like it will be a hit. Mostly, it's good and occasionally great.
Best song: Where Do They Make Balloons?     Worst song: Wake Up Call
  They Got Lost
  2002
This is a compilation of unreleased and "rare" recordings, most of which I already owned on account of I'm a collector and a completist deep in my soul. If you're not a big serious fan, skip it.
Best song: Rest Awhile    Worst song: Dollar For Dollar
