Poster Children

The Poster Children came into my life when I heard the song If You See Kay on the radio. It's a great song off their 2nd (and best) album. I bought the tape back in '91 and fell in love. Then I got to see them twice on the Tool of the Man tour and again on the Junior Citizen tour. I became a big fan and bought all their stuff. I tend to listen to the older stuff more than the newer, but it all really does rock. Their gimmick is popcorn fast drums, loud and cranky guitars and really upsetting time signatures.
          Poster Children Album Mini-Reviews

Flower Plower
  1990

The Poster Children's first album is a decent debut mixing crunchy punk rock guitars with swirly atmospheric feedback and hyperactive drums.
Best song / Worst song: Honestly, they all sound the same
Daisychain Reaction
  1991
Perfect. Every song is good; most of them completely rule. This is one of my favourite albums ever. The guitars and the drums and the vocals are all fun and energetic.
Best song: Where We Live     Worst song: Want It
Tool of the Man
  1993
The major label debut is a very good album but a bit blander than it's predecessor. I've seen the PC play three times and this album sounds better live.
Best song: Outside In     Worst song: Shotguns and Pickups
Just Like You
  1994
The band couldn't wait to release their next album so they tossed us an EP of 6 brand new songs. It's all great stuff and perfectly paves the way for the album with its wacky time signatures.
Best song: What's Inside The Box     Worst song: Uther
Junior Citizen
  1995
The Poster Kids have grown up and broadened their sound without losing their edge. I love this album. Their sound is fleshed out with keyboards and even a drum machine.
Best song: Junior Citizen     Worst song: Drug I Need
RTFM
  1997
RTFM continues in the vein of JC and adds tons of interactive cd-rom content. The vocals are finally brought to the forefront and the music is a tad calmer and occasionally spacey.
Best song: 0 for 1     Worst song: Music Of America
New World Record
  1999
New World Record is at once the angrier, louder, funkier brother of RTFM. It rocks in a Daisychain way while simultaneously acting as the logical follow-up album.
Best song: Secret Handshake    Worst song: Chemicals
DDD
  2000
Even funkier than NWR and spacier than RTFM, DDD takes the PC to bold new ground. The time signatures are more warped than ever and the bass is fuzzier than was previously dreamt possible.
Best song: Daisy Changed     Worst song: Rock and Roll
